About Australia
Australia is the smallest continent and one of the largest countries on Earth, lying between the Pacific and Indian oceans in the Southern Hemisphere. Australia’s capital is Canberra, located in the southeast between the larger and more important economic and cultural centers of Sydney and Melbourne.
Weather Condition
The climate of Australia varies greatly across its eight states and territories. Being a very large continent, many areas are characterized by various weather conditions, depending on their latitude. Australia is part of the Southern Hemisphere (the hemisphere south of the Equator), so its seasons will be opposite to what you’re used to. When it’s winter in Europe and Latin America, it’s summer south of the equator.
There are four seasons across most of Australia, with the tropical north experiencing a wet and dry season. Summer runs from December to March (average temperature 29 °C), autumn from March to May, winter runs from June to August (average 13 °C) and spring from September to November.
Like majority of the countries in the southern hemisphere, Australia’s seasons follow the sequence:
Summer: December to February
Winter: June to August
Autumn: March to May
Spring: September to November
Accommodation
Deciding where to live during your study in a University is very crucial. It is important to choose the most suitable place to stay during your study in the UK. Fortunately, there are many suitable places to choose from. However, choose somewhere you are going to be happy and comfortable living. The UK can boast of one of the best living standards and condition for students in University Residents/Hall, Home Stays, Home Share.
Campus Accommodation
Majority of universities and study or vocational institutions offer accommodation around and on campus. They include residential halls, apartments, and college residences. Each of these has its cost allocated to it. College residence is slightly a bit more expensive and also provides meals. Accommodations in and around campus usually have computer, tutoring, library, sports and social facilities available. Students usually have access to a wide variety of food and cleaning services provided. There is a need for students to apply early because demand for these places are rather high.
Private Rentals (Share Houses)
Students usually rent from landlords in this case. Renting means that students can stay wherever they prefer. Obviously, it is important to choose rentals as close as possible to the institution to prevent transport cost and the possibility of reaching the institution late. The advantage is that you do what you like and have more choices of types of accommodation you prefer. Share houses also mean that you are likely to choose who you stay with, that is, if you are going with a friend.
Home Stays
A homestay is a type of cultural exchange. It allows international students to live in the home of a local host family and shares almost everything. A homestay will give you an opportunity to experience the local culture, be supported as you get used to your new hometown, practice your English and make new friends.
Food
One of the big concerns with students studying in other countries is if they can thrive there. And one item on the list of extreme necessity is food. One of the ways to measure the ability to survive is if you can eat what you find. Obviously, Australia is not your homeland. But you are sure to be amazed.
Australians are becoming increasingly interested in multicultural foods and beverages from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, as well as cultural and religious food requirements such as Halal and Kosher.
Because vegetables and vegetable products such as tofu play such an important role in Asian, Indian, and other international cuisines, vegetarianism has grown in popularity.
Bush tucker foods from Australia are still a novelty. Specialty meats such as kangaroo, wallaby, emu, and crocodile are available. In the middle of summer, barbecue with plenty of seafood and high-quality steak is likely.
The human body is adaptable, although they are some meals you may just not come to terms, it is always a delight to learn a new dish. Australia has grocery stores to allows you purchase food stuffs and cook homeland dishes to be comfortable.
